I personally love reflecting on the past year and recommitting to new year resolutions. Here are some questions I asked myself earlier this week—feel free to use them! I always like to start trying my resolutions in December like a trial run and adjust as necessary.
Please note that the following questions have a narrow focus (i.e. on self). For resolutions facing outward, it may be good to incorporate other lists too.
Questions for 2023:
Part 1: Introspection/Identity
How would I describe myself? Include one positive descriptor that I’ve been working on.
Who do I want to be in 5-10 years?
Who do I want to be this upcoming year? Answer with specific goals for each of these parts of myself: spirit, body, mind, and heart.
Part 2: Supplemental
What kind of home (i.e. culture, environment) do I want to make?
What scenes from this past year do I want to see less of? More of?
Make a list of how I will practice each of these timeless character pillars1: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Add/edit specific goals from question 3 of part 1 as you consider answers from the supplemental section.
Happy resolution-ing resolving!
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 ESV
